New England Weekly Journal is first published.
March 20, 1727
It is published and printed by Samuel Kneeland (under the pseudonym Proteus Echo, Esq.) from a shop on Dorsett’s Alley at the corner of today’s Court Street and Franklin Avenue near today’s 35 Court Street. Boston’s fourth newspaper, its last issue appears on October 13, 1741, after which it merges with the Gazette.
